Possum Report

We still have our 'possum. Dad calls him Opie. Opie climbs up onto our balcony every night for dinner. Of course, we don't actually know that he is a "he." But he comes anyway.

Catzee and I like to watch him eat. Dad calls it the Cats' OTV. Sometimes I hiss and Mom fusses at Me. But he is on my balcony after all, and I'm not allowed out when they're expecting him.

Mom leaves him a bowl with some dry cat food, a raisin or two, a sliver of apple, a few sunflower seeds, a little chunk of dried bread, some leftover popcorn, a bit of cantaloupe rind or carrot. He doesn't like lettuce or cucumber. He always eats the cat food first.

After he finishes eating he gets a drink from the water dish nearby and then he washes his face. Mom says he washes his face like a bunny because he uses both paws at the same time. When he was littler he would hang out and take a nap before climbing down. Now he just leaves when he's done. Or hides. He is shy.

And that's the Possum Report.

He is a kinda cute fellow.Since your Dad named him,I guess you have adopted him and will continue to feed him? How long after Opie leaves before you can go out? We don't have any possum here.Guess I will have to be content watching the bats!

Wow, you are brave to get so close to such a critter - even through the door glass! It is nice of your mom & dad to feed him.

We're glad you enjoyed the stories of how we got our names.

We have possums. They are vicious and will bite. We do not feed. We also have racoons, rats, alligators, snakes, owls, ravens...to name a few.
We do not feed these either. Especially the alligators. Good cat-cat would not make good meal for alligator. Trust me on this one. I think I go sit on roof now.

Yes, we believe since your dad named him, he is yours! He looks like he would be fun to watch through the glass!

Of course you hiss it's an intruder.
Why do the beans all think these pests are cute and feed them. My mom feeds a squirrel aka the intruder on our balcony she thinks it's cute.Yet I know better and hiss at it everytime.

That's so nice that your mom & dad "turn on your TV" for you by leaving food for Opie. I guess that means that Catzee doesn't get to go out there much anymore since she likes to jump down from there, huh?

The possum is kind of cute, but a little scary, too. I am not surprised that you hiss at him.

Hey I like Opie! Mama wants to know if he lisps (don't ask me why she has that question, she's weird like that). You gotta make sure he doesn't get hit by a car. The Opies around here can be dumb and they get hit by cars. I see them sometimes in the morning, it's very sad. How funny that he likes cantaloupe, but not cucumbers! He's getting spoiled at your house.

Wow, I see these guys outside sometimes, but mum won't feed them. She doesn't want them or the raccoons to hang around.

We've never seen a possum, they don't live around here. we would definitely hiss at him. We would keep our distance. Tho he looks small - he might have big teeth.

Reality TV! What more could you want? At least a possum won't spray you with icky smelly spray if you get too close.
