Chickens

Mom says we're getting chickens.

I said, I like to eat chicken. She said, they aren't for eating, they're for laying eggs. Then we went out to gather some straw for the chickens to walk on. I helped.

I inspected all around carefully, looking for mouses.

I also made sure they didn't jump into Mom's wheelbarrow. All clear in here.

I've never seen a live chicken before. Do you think they'll like Me?

Rascal, I think the chickens might like you if you meet them when they are small and don't confuse them for McNuggets.

If you try to see what they taste like they won't think that you are nice and will make all sorts of squawky sounds.

good luck!

I think they would like you, especially since you helped so much in getting their new home ready for them. Although...you probably won't be able to play with them. And be careful to not let them peck at you!

Mom's always singing,

"Oh, I love to eat them mousies,
Mousies what I love to eat,
Bite they little heads off,
Nibble on they tiny feet."

You'd think she was a cat, too.

You are a good help making sure there are no mousies in the wheelbarrow. Do you like to go for wheelbarrow rides? My dad takes me to the hay barn in his.

Annie says are chickens anything like pheasants?

We had a pheasant in the garden this week with a long tail and Annie says they are fun to chase around the garden but they are a bit of a strange bird because they don't fly away and they run faster than cats and you can't catch them!
